Health Issues for Greed, Leave the Amazon Alone

Image
In my  previous post about the Amazon Fires  I wrote about how the fires would affect our health directly. Due to the pollutants being released into the air thus forcing use to inhale this pollutants into our system. As anyone would of guessed it is not good for our bodies and are extremely harmful. City of Brazil, Cao Paolo, blacked by pollutants from the Amazon Rainforst Fire. I posted this image in order to prove to you my concerns of Brazil and neighboring countries. Millions of people are forced to inhale all of that every day. Pollutants are expected to aggravate heart disease and inflammation, nerve disorder and even cancer.  CNN reports  there's been a spike in the number of breathing problems and hospitalizations among children in Brazil. Children are among the first to be affected due to their developing bodies. In May and June about 5 000 children were hospitalized for each month. That's 10 000 children in 2 months of the fire burning. Imagine Jul...

The Future is Not Female

Image
Feminism slogan, The Future is Female, is extremely problematic. Like are females just gonna ignore like.. the rest of the population... With all due respect the slogan gotta go. I am not disagreeing on the Feminism movement as a whole, but I am strongly disagreeing on the slogan. Originally, I believe, the slogan was created by a Feminist who wanted to be apologetically a Female. They, too, thrive for equality. However, according to the  Sociology Dictionary  the definitions of Feminism is; 1. (noun) The idea that women and men should have equal legal and political rights, sexual autonomy, and self-determination (agency). 2. (noun) A social movement that advocates for economic, political, and social equality between women and men. 3. (noun) A theoretical perspective stating women are uniquely and systematically oppressed and that challenges ideas of gender and sex roles. All 3 definitions come down to one single word, equality. The feminism movement is one that fro...

They People Too

I have a dream. Well, at least I had one. It will stay in the past tense for as long as the current president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, remains with his mindset that the deforestation of the Amazon is the key to increasing Brazil's wealth. Though his greed, my dream will never come true. For years I've always said I'd travel in the Amazon settle with one of the tribes and learn their way, in the hope to use their knowledge to create a better society. I dreamed that I'd represent the minority whenever I could. So here I am.. On his first day in office Brazil's current president, Jair Bolsonaro, loosened protective regulations that were placed in 1988. The regulations placed in order to protect the tribes from previous decades of violence and discrimination. The reserved land for the tribes which has been protected makes up 12,5% out of the 60%, which is within Brazil's territory, of the Amazon Rainforest. Map showing how much of the Amazon is Protected and...

The Amazon Perished for Greed

Image
Our lungs were on fire and it didn’t reach the media until weeks after ranging fires continued. The Amazon Rainforest is home to millions of species and hundreds of tribes yet didn’t get a lot of media coverage. Yes, the Amazon gets thousands of fires every year especially in the dry season but this one was different. This one completely wiped out a large part of the forest. It is important for people to be aware of the fire, the destruction it brought and how to help. Causes One might ask what’s so different about this fire if fires in the Amazon are common especially during the dry season. Well, the regulations were put into place in 1988 in order to prevent deforestation which causes a spike in fires as well as to protect the indigenous tribes. In 2008 regulations were placed to protect the forest even further. Brazil’s current president, Jair Bolsonaro, loosened those regulations that protected certain areas the Amazon from deforestation. Now allowing activities such as mining,...
